”Section 8.0” Is Not A Free Release
Kendrick Lamar has announced that his new mixtape, “Section 8.0,” will not be for free. He’s put a price tag on this particular release, and he said he did it for the good of the industry. “It was something that I had to understand, that my company had to make me understand. I’m putting out this free music, constantly putting it out,” Lamar told MTV News. “My whole thing is bringing music back to where people actually buy it, but at the same time, you know what? I don’t think I’m ready yet to start selling my project because I feel the world don’t know me yet.” Lamar’s previous mixtapes were made available free of charge. Lamar says his label encouraged him to change his approach this time around. “Top Dawg is always telling me, ‘They’ll never know you [and you'll never] get a chance to bring music back to its original roots because you aren’t demanding to go out and buy it,’ ” Lamar said of the advice his label gave him. “That made sense to me.” |

Veteran Rapper Releases ”Meagan Good”
Several unreleased songs by Master P, including a single entitled “Meagan Good,” will be released as the soundtrack to his upcoming film with Gucci Mane, Get Money. In the film, P plays ‘Monstahh,’ a hardcore gangsta rapper. The story centers on hustlers making it in the music industry. âI got [producer] Chip to add some some of the tracks sounds to the beat and Iâve been talking to Meagan Good on the phone and decided to give the song a character and named it âMeagan Goodâ since she is one of the finest actresses in the game right now,” Master P. told AllHipHop. “Sheâs classy, hood, sexy, independent and beautiful. I think every woman can relate and every guy wants to be with.â The soundtrack could pave the way for Master P’s full-fledged return to recording. The former No Limit mogul retired in 2006. âIt felt good being in Thee Bat Cave Studio with some of the worldâs talented music producers like Chip aka Roi Anthony, Riley, Drumma Boy and XL Productions,” Master P. said. “And now that Gucci Mane is [on his way] home, we bout to go hard. I felt like I got my second wind working with hot new artists like Bengie B, Miss Chee, T-Bo, Black Don, Romeo and Valentino.â |
